COME ON IRELAND!

AHHH

Ireland mania is in full swing and we jumped on the bandwagon to take part.  At the weekend Rotorua became a mini Dublin with the streets full of a sea of green.  The atmosphere was totally electric and the banter was fantastic.  There was no spare beds in the hostels and no spare parking spaces for camper vans...the Irish supporters had landed and they were in full voice and full colour!

Rotorua embraced the onslaught and closed off one of the main roads conveniently with Henesseys the Irish bar on it and held and massive street party before the game.  Everyone was getting their faces painted and practising their singing and drinking!

The stadium was quite small with very few allocated seats, mainly terraces so we got a great spot pretty close to the front with amazing views.  We got on our silly Irish costumes that we would never be seen dead in in Ireland haha!! Apparently the stadium held 25,000 and they estimated 24,000 were Irish!!!

With a fantastic result the night was set to be a great one.  These guys really got into the true spirit of the world cup as they travelled around the country...

We absolutely loved being at the game and I can definitely say my first world cup match was a huge success...hopefully we will manage to switch our quarter final tickets with an Aussie so it won't have to be my last Ireland match!! If anyone has any Aus friends who would like to switch tickets please please let us know!!

We finished our enjoyable few days in Rotorua with a little bit of lugeing...basically a 3 wheel go cart that goes down a concrete track at very high speeds, fantastic fun and a great adrenaline rush!!

Next stop Auckland where we will hang out for a few days and then meet a new bus to travel around the North Island back down to Wellington for the quarter finals.

Thanks for reading!! x
